In this article I will show how to deploy Cisco Nexus 1000v on vSphere 5.5.
To deploy Cisco Nexus 1000v, please follow steps:
- Download Cisco Nexus 1000v from cisco.com
- From the vSphere Client, choose File > Deploy OVF Template or if you use Web Client, right click on Cluster and select Deploy OVF Template
- In the Source screen, specify the location of the OVA file and click Next.
- Click Next.
- Read the Cisco Nexus 1000V License Agreement. Click Accept and then click Next.
- In the Name: field, add the VSM name, choose the folder location within the inventory where it will reside, and click Next. The name for the VSM must be unique within the inventory folder and less than 80 characters.
- From the Configuration drop-down list, choose Nexus 1000V Installer. This choice configures the primary VSM using the GUI setup dialog.
- Click Next.
- Choose the datastore in which to store the file if one is available.
- Click Next.
- In the Network Mapping screen, choose the networks (the control, management, and packet port groups) that are present in your inventory.
- Click Next.
- Specify the following properties for your primary VSM: VSM domain ID, Admin password, Management IP address, Management IP subnet mask, Management IP gateway:
- Click Next. In the Ready to Complete screen, if the configuration is correct, click Finish.
Cisco Nexus 1000v Secondary
To deploy Cisco Nexus 1000v Secondary, please follow steps:
- Repeat steps 2-5 mentioned earlier in this article.
- In the Name: field, add the VSM name, choose the folder location within the inventory where it will reside, and click Next.
- From the Configuration drop-down list, choose Nexus 1000V Secondary. This choice configures the secondary VSM using the GUI setup dialog.
- Repeat steps 8-12 mentioned earlier in this article.
- Specify the following properties for your secondary VSM: VSM domain ID, Admin password.
- Click Next. In the Ready to Complete screen, if the configuration is correct, click Finish.
Cisco Nexus 1000v is supported on vSphere 6.0 as well. The installation procedure is the same.
